Prestige Proof Set...my first jaunt into proofs
The 1987 set is the 200 year commemorative of the Constitution. It features a constitution silver dollar, and proof Kennedy half, quarter, dime, nickel, and penny. I bought the set from my dealer for $33, no tax.
I thought that it would be nice to have, given how much I love RP's campaign platform. I'll be adding the 1993 bill of rights set soon. http://shoppersdirect.com/US/proof/s...tion%20Set.JPG When and what kind of numismatic appreciation might I expect (barring a complete collapse of society the MRE crowd likes to propagate)? |

There was a $5 gold minted in 1987 for the Constitution bicentennial.

Does anyone know of websites that show the value of commemorative issues like these? I would like to see what dealers are willing to pay to purchase these items. Thanks. :coolbeer:

cool. APMEX has some pics of the 1987 gold constitution coin.
the price has approximately doubled since I bought it. The prestige proof set hasn't gone up much in 20 years. That dollar coin is really nice, though. http://www.apmex.com/Resources/Catal...27601_slab.jpg http://www.apmex.com/Resources/Catal.../27601_obv.jpg http://www.apmex.com/Resources/Catal.../27601_rev.jpg |

I've looked at a lot of sites, this is all I could find:

If you go to a coin show and ask some dealers, they will probably pull out a recent greysheet and look it up.
Greysheet want to be paid for their research so it isn't available free online. http://www.greysheet.com/ |
Re: Prestige Proof Set...my first jaunt into proofs
Yes, the Grey Sheet seems to be the industry standard. I don't subscribe to it anymore due to the cost but I still buy an issue online every once in a while to refer to. A lot of dealers around here will only pay 10% back of bid for some items. I think it depends on what it is and if they have a demand for it.
